Love With Food June Review

For only $2 I was able to try out a box of Love with Food. The theme this month was Take Me Out To The Ballgame.

IMG_6144

As you can see from the picture there were lots of goodies.

YumEarth Fruit Snacks –  these were really good and my toddler loved them

Cookie Department Gingersnap Cookie – this had a good flavor and I liked it

G.H. Cretors Chicago Mix – this was just ok for me. I liked the caramel popcorn but not so much the cheddar popcorn and I didn’t really want them mixed together.

Stoneridge Orchards Cherries – these were very good. Both my husband and toddler want more of these.

Jolly Oak Almond Butter & Jelly Granola – I was expecting to really like this but I didn’t at all. It was a bit dry and tasteless I thought.

Dulcetto Chocolate Cookies – all I can say is YUM.

Cheddar Baked Fries – I didn’t try these because cheddary stuff isn’t my thing but my husband fed some to the toddler. I asked him if she liked them and he said “she ate them for awhile but then started smashing them with her sippy cup.”

Tree Hugger Gum Ball – I loved this. It was my favorite item in the box. I haven’t eaten bubble gum in years and this had such a good flavor.

I really liked this box so I think I’m going to stick with Love With Food for another month. To try them yourself click here Love With Food

Lush Products Review Part 2

Lush is a beauty products company that makes “fresh handmade cosmetics.” You can buy their products in stores or online. The in-store experience is quite a bit different than the online one. They are one of the new generation of sellers who try to use several different senses in order to entice you. In this case sight, smell, & touch.  The clerks aren’t as annoying as the Bath & Body ones but they are VERY attentive and much better trained in selling. All the products are in baskets on the shelves and there is no packaging. The company doesn’t use packaging because they say it’s wasteful, I say it also saves them money. This means that you can go along and smell and touch everything before you buy it. This also means that so can everyone else. The ever “helpful” sales clerk sat me in a chair and washed my arm with soap, then put on a solid lotion, then put on a liquid lotion. I must admit my skin was very soft and so I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I bought all three products as well as some others. Here is my review of each one:

Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion

IMG_6028

This has a nice scent but is a bit on the greasy side. It is ok but I wouldn’t probably buy it again. There are two sizes of this lotion. One is 2 oz for $5.95 which is the one I asked for. The other is 8 oz for $22.95 which is the one I got. I didn’t pay attention as the “helpful”sales clerk went and got it for me and put it in my bag. So I didn’t notice until I got back home. No way would I have intentionally spent $22.95 on a lotion. 8 oz is a lot and it will take awhile for me to use this up. Wish I liked it a bit better. But, according to the clerk 100% of the proceeds of the product go to charity. So at least that’s something.

The Comforter Bubble Bar

IMG_6029

This ended up being my most favorite item that I bought. It’s smells like bubble gum and makes a TON of bubbles. I just break of a piece and toss it under the faucet. It turns the bath water pink depending on how much you use. But you don’t need to use much. I think I broke mine into 8ths.

King of Skin Body Butter Bar

IMG_6037

This is a massaging body lotion that you can use in the shower. It feels very luxurious and nice on the skin but it is a bit greasy. It’s a big bar so it lasts a long time. My skin does feel really soft for awhile after I use it but it doesn’t last.

Sex Bath Bomb

IMG_6039

This is a bath bomb that dissolves into the water. You essentially get fragrance and colored water. It is kind of cool as it dissolves because the flower bit kind of opens up like it’s blossoming.

Butterfly Reusable Bubble Bar

IMG_6040

This is pretty cool also. It is a bubble bath bar that you just hold under the faucet for a bit and it makes a lot of bubbles. The water also turn slightly pinkish. You can get the desired amount of bubbles just by holding it under the faucet for longer or shorter depending on what you want. There’s not much fragrance but you do get bubbles. I think this is a good product for younger girls & teens but I use it some for me too.

Floating Island Bath Melt

IMG_6041

This is a bath melt which makes the water VERY silky/greasy. I might’ve used too much because I cut it in half. You might possibly be able to use even less. It looks and smells like vanilla ice cream.

Oatifix Fresh Face Mask

oatfix

I must’ve forgotten to take a picture of the two face masks I bought so this picture is from the Lush website. The fresh face masks are only available in stores and since they use fresh ingredients you have to keep them refrigerated and they only last about two weeks. The “helpful”sales clerk did not mention that short expiration date when I purchased them. I found out about it from another website. Had I known that at the time I wouldn’t have bought two. You can’t possibly use two in two weeks unless you do a mask everyday which seems like a lot. Anyways the Oatifix has a very pleasant scent but when you put it on it’s cold from the refrigerator and it’s chunky. I suppose you could let it sit out for a while to come to room temperature to avoid the cold but it still would be chunky. I didn’t really like the chunky so I probably wouldn’t repurchase this mask. Also you have to be careful with the mask because it leaves a lot of oil on the skin so if you’re acne prone this may not be the one for you. I have fairly dry skin so I didn’t have any trouble with it but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for teenagers or young people.

BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask

seaweed

I bought this mask because the sales clerk said it was one of the best and that it exfoliates as well as moisturizes. It probably did those things but it smells like seaweed and it contains seaweed so you have bits of seaweed on your face. I think it worked ok but the smell was just too awful. Apparently the fresh face masks are not for me. It seems to me that they could make the masks a bit smoother and not so chunky. I also wonder if I could make similar masks at home myself with bananas and avocados and things. I will have to look into that.

All in all going to the actual store was a fun experience but I did have a bit of buyer’s remorse once I got home. Most of these products I wouldn’t purchase again but they were fun to try once. I am a bit curious to try their shampoo line so I might do that next. What other Lush products should I try? Do you have a favorite Lush product?

June Citrus Lane Subscription Box Review & Discount

IMG_6151

By the name you’d think Citrus Lane had something to do with oranges but actually it’s a subscription box for kids ages 0-5. My box is for a 2 year old girl. I loved the box this month. Here is what was in it.

Plum Organics Nutrition Bars in Blueberry & Strawberry

IMG_6153

I like that they included healthy snacks but I would rate these as just so so. My daughter ate them but wasn’t enthused about them. Of course lately it seems she only has two food groups; Macaroni & Cheese & Hot Dogs.

Mudpuppy 12 piece Ballerina Puzzle

IMG_6154

I thought this was a really cute puzzle so we opened it up right away. My daughter hasn’t really gotten the hang of puzzles yet and she got really fussy and tempermental and threw the pieces everywhere. But I liked it so maybe she will enjoy it more as she gets older. For now I will put it away for another day.

Minnie Mouse Wet Bag

IMG_6155

This is exactly what we needed this month. This is perfect for taking to the pool and putting her wet swimsuit in. And Minnie Mouse is always a favorite so I am really happy with the pattern.

Skip Hop Panda Straw Bottle

IMG_6157

This is again another awesome selection and perfect for taking to the pool. While my daughter can drink out of a regular cup she almost always spills most of the contents. So I much prefer sippy cups with lids. Yesterday when I took her to the pool I let her have some lemonade from a styrofoam cup and after she took a few drinks she decided to put several of the napkins into it. Then she took the napkins out and for some reason dumped the entire rest of the lemonade on my foot. So yeah, lids are a must.

I liked all the items in the Citrus Lane this month. This was one of my favorite boxes from them. To get 50% off your first box click here Citrus Lane

June Pop Sugar Must Have Review & Coupon Code

PopSugar Must Have is a monthly subscription box which sends “hand-selected items in beauty, fashion, home, fitness, and food.” The cost is $39.95 a month with shipping included. Here is what was in the box.

IMG_6111

There were six items and a gift card. The first item you really notice is the hardcover book ‘The One & Only’ by Emily Giffin. Retail value $16.50

IMG_6112

I have not read this book yet but I’ve heard good things about it. Hopefully I will be able to start reading it this week.

One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ Kettle Potato Chips Retail value $2.00

IMG_6113

These had a good tangy flavor and they were made with all natural ingredients. It’s nice to see a BBQ chip without MSG.

You Smell Lemon Verbena Wet Wipes Retail value $6

IMG_6114

With a toddler wet wipes are a must. I haven’t tried these particular ones yet but I’m happy they were included in the box.

Sachajuan Shiny Citrus Body Lotion Retail value $24

IMG_6115

This is a nice lotion with a soft citrusy scent and while I like it I would never pay full retail for it.

Lollies Hair Ties Retail value $8

IMG_6116

In the summertime I pretty much always wear my hair in a ponytail and I always need more hair ties. I don’t know where they go but I am forever losing them.

Turkish-T turkish towel Retail value $32

IMG_6120

I loved the turkish towel from the PopSugar Special Edition Resort box so when I saw that there was a turkish towel in the June box I knew I had to get it. I LOVE the turkish towels. I have already been to the pool several times with this. They are compact and lightweight making them super easy to fit in a gym bag. The blue and white stripes are perfect for summertime and while I would certainly never pay full retail for this I love that it was included in the box. It’s not quite as luxurious as the one from the resort box but still very nice.

Also included in the box was a $15 Native Union coupon. I had never heard of Native Union so I had to look up their website. They sell tech accessories such as chargers, headphones, cases etc. I doubt I will use this coupon so maybe I will pass it on to someone else.

I really loved the June PopSugar Must Have Box. To get your PopSugar box click here and enter coupon code REFER5 for $5 off your first month or coupon code JUNESELECT10 for $10 off a three month subscription.

May Wantable Intimates

Wantable Intimates chooses “4-5 premium essentials handpicked to suit your preferences” and sends them to you each month for a cost of $36 per month. You have options to pause or cancel your subscription at any time and you can set the types of items you receive by filling out a survey quiz. And you can retake the survey quiz at any time to change your preferences. Currently my preferences are set to only socks & underwear. This is what I received this month.

IMG_6123

It’s three pairs of soft comfy underwear, one pair of socks and three pairs of Fashion Liners. I love the underwear they send. It is always very good quality. The socks aren’t my favorite pattern but I will probably wear them come wintertime. The Fashion Liners are a product I have never seen or heard of. You can’t really tell from the picture but they have a pretty lace pattern. With the right shoe this would look really good and is great for a time when you need socks of some kind but it’s too hot to wear actual socks or pantyhose.

I absolutely love Wantable Intimates. They are my favorite subscription box. Follow this link to learn more or get your Wantable subscription. Wantable.com

June Yumvelope Review

IMG_6108

With a subscription to Yumvelope you get 6+ all natural snacks delivered for the cost of $21 a month. I really enjoyed my Yumvelope last month so I decided to let my subscription go another month. This month wasn’t really my favorite though. Here is what was in the box.

Savory Masala Popcorn with spices and lentil chips – I have not tried this as it doesn’t really sound like my cup of tea. I am saving it for a friend that I think would really enjoy it.

Gilded Nut Salt & Pepper Pistachios – I generally like pistachios but I did not like these. I found them too peppery.

Madecasse Salted Almond Chocolate – This was my favorite irem in the box. This was a very good chocolate. I would buy this again if I saw it.

Bearded Brothers Energy Bar – This tasted pretty good.

McCabe’s True Original Granola – Really, more granola. I have several open bags of granola already so I think I will pass this one on to a friend.

McCabe’s True Original Granola Bar – I like the idea of a healthy granola bar. I ate this for breakfast one morning. The flavor was good.

Savannah Bee Body Wash – This was an unusual item as usually yumvelope just has food products. It is a nice body wash with an orange scent.

I like that Yumvelope offers healthy snacks from brands that are not as well known. But I would prefer to have the option to pick the types of snacks I get. I prefer the sweet ones to the savory ones and this box leaned a bit towards savory more than I like.  But it was absolutely fun to try new products. It sort of like having your very own snack concierge. To try your Yumvelope the website is http://yumvelope.com.

Artistry Gift Wrap May Box

Artistry Gift Wrap is a subscription box that sends different types of wrapping paper. This month they did plantable wrapping paper. I have never seen plantable wrapping paper so I thought it was pretty cool.

IMG_6162

The box had a lot less items than usual but the wrapping paper is imported from England and not available in the U.S. I must confess that even though it was supposed to be wrapping paper the gardener in me wanted to plant it. I started with the sunflower paper. I’ve never grown sunflowers before so we’ll see how it goes. First I took the backing off which was apparently a mistake because all the seeds fell out. So I ended up just throwing them willy nilly in the garden along with some other seeds so we’ll see what happens. For the wildflower paper I just put the whole thing in the garden and threw some dirt on the top. Here is a picture.

IMG_6107

As you can see it has some sprouts already. I’m sure I need to go back and do a better job with the soil but I think for just tossing it in the garden with a few handfuls of dirt I’m pretty pleased to see some little sprouts. I’ll keep you posted later in the season to see how it does.

To get your plantable paper or other gift wrappings the link is http://artistrygiftwrap.com. Use coupon code SUMMER5 for $5 off a one, three, or six month subscription.

Try The World Paris Review

IMG_5999

Try The World is a gourmet subscription box which sends you a “taste of the world in a box.” Currently they offer a tour of four cities beginning with Paris, then Tokyo, then Rio and lastly Rome. No matter when you sign up you will always start with the Paris box.

IMG_6001

The Paris box included a card describing each of the gourmet products as well as a Culture Guide. The Culture Guide was one of the coolest things in the box. It contained information on French music to listen to, French movies to see, French poetry and even a recipe for crepes. I haven’t tried the crepe recipe yet because I think I would just make a mess of the crepes. I have trouble enough with just pancakes. I do really like crepes though so maybe I will be adventurous one day and give it a go.

IMG_6002

These are tea bags desribed as “perfume in a cup.” I haven’t tried the tea yet but I like tea and the description sounds good so I’m sure I will like it.

IMG_6003

I’ve heard other bloggers say this hot chocolate is quite good. It’s summer here so I haven’t made it but I will save it for fall or a cold wintery day.

IMG_6008

I did try these nougat bars and I thought they were good.

IMG_6004

I was happy to see sea salt. I always see recipes that call for sea salt but I’ve never bothered to buy any. According to the card this is a really special low production salt. And it’s made without any chemical treatments or additives.

IMG_6011

There were two jelly type spreads, apricot and blueberry. Both of these were quite good. Then there is a Chestnut Spread which is a very sweet spread. The consistency is similar to apple butter but the taste is very very sweet almost like icing but not exactly. I put it on toast but I think it would maybe be better on a cookie or a different application.

IMG_6012

This was a very small little container of caramels. They were good but they didn’t amaze me or anything. My husband ate most of them right away so I guess he liked them.

This was a very interesting box. I liked all of the items and thought the music and movie suggestions were a nice touch. I would be interested to try their Rome box but I don’t want to do the whole four country tour. I think making the boxes available individually would be better. The boxes are $45 each and ship every two months. To learn more their website is http://www.trytheworld.com/
