Escape Monthly – Mexico Box Review & coupon code

When I heard they were doing Mexico this month I wasn’t that excited but I decided to stick it out because I really liked the Ireland box. Sadly, as expected, I did not like the Mexico box. Let’s review the contents one by one. First up is the travel guide.

I’ve never heard of the areas mentioned in this guide except for Acupulco. I don’t really have a desire to visit Mexico but I thumbed through the guide anyways. To me it reads like a cautionary tale. Don’t leave your car parked unattended, don’t bring your nice things, don’t go out alone especially if you’re a women and so on. What little desire I had to see Mexico is definitely extinguished due to this guide. Nice beaches or not this does not seem like a safe place to go.

This is the Ayate Washcloth. I was kind of excited to try something authentic from Mexico that I had never seen before. This is a “washcloth” woven from the Agave plant. I tried this today and I didn’t like it. It feels like straw to me and it probably does exfoliate well but I prefer a sugar scrub.

They also included two Mexican Sodas to try. These were both a miss for me. I don’t really like Sangria to start with and I really didn’t like it as a soda. To me the Sangria soda tasted like sugared vinegar. The other one was a Green Apple Soda. This actually had an ok flavor. But after tasting it I gave it to my husband to drink. He finished the bottle so I guess that meant he liked it.

Next in the box was dried Organic Mango. These were ok. I finished the bag but I wouldn’t go out and buy them on purpose.

Then there was the Pacifica Candle. This was my favorite item in the box. I love Pacifica products. However, the only thing Mexican about it is the name of the scent “Mexican Cocoa.”

There were two spices Lucas Mango and Habanero Heat Sea Salt. I have not tried these yet as I have no idea how to use them. What do you do with Mango seasoning? I may gift these to a friend who is foodie and would know how to use these.

Then there was the candy. Pulparindo is somewhat similar to a fruit roll-up except that it is thicker and it is spicy. Really spicy. So spicy that I quit after one bite. The de la Rosa Marzipan had a nice peanutty flavor and I liked that one.

I enjoyed getting to try some different things but I did not like the Mexico box as much as I liked the Ireland box. I am going to keep the subscription for another month though because next month is Beverly Hills and I love California so I’m interested to see what they come up with for this box.

Glossybox April Subscription Box Review

This is my third month of Glossybox but it’s the first month that I got a box with products I really liked.

AquaSpa Body Creme – This has a nice scent and I can always use another lotion.

Bellapierre Lip Gloss – This is a great lip gloss and I like the color. My only complaint is that I already have another one from another company that is a very similar color. However I like this one better so I will certainly make use of it.

Lashplash Eyeshadow Sealer Base – I have not tried this product yet but I like the idea of an eyeshadow base and I do not have any other ones.

Caldrea Coconut Fig Leaf Body Wash – Again a nice scent and a useful product.

Ciate Nail Polish – I finally got a nail polish in a color I like. The name of the color is Angel Wings and it comes in such a cute¬†bottle too with the little bow. Here is a picture of the color on my hand. It’s not a great picture but I think the color¬†looks very elegant.

Did you get Glossybox this month? What did you think?

Pop Sugar Must Have Resort Special Edition

A lot of bloggers have been raving about the Special Edition PopSugar boxes so when I saw the resort one come out I decided to give it a try. I was one of the last people to receive my box so since the reviews were already out I knew what the contents were.

At first after seeing the reviews I was disappointed in the box but after receiving mine and actually using the products I like it a lot more.

This is a Cuyana Turkish Towel which retails at $55. It is made from cotton and bamboo. I love this towel. It is big and can wrap it around me. And it is perfect for taking to the pool or beach because it is more compact and takes up less space. This is my new favorite towel and if not for the high price I would buy more of these.

This is a great little bag that was made especially for PopSugar. I think it would be great to put keys or sunglasses in when you’re on your way to the beach or pool. I will definitely make use of this bag.

I love love love the Epicuren Tropical Lave. It has an awesome smell. I must buy more of this once it runs out,

I wasn’t all that excited when I saw salt water taffy in the box but I decided to give it a try. So YUMMY. Just the right amount of salty and sweet. I thought this was quite good!

Clark’s Botanicals Moisture Mist. This is a hydrating mist. It has a pleasant smell and does seem to cool you off. I like it and I think on a hot day it will be very refreshing.

This was my least favorite item in the box. I like the idea of an eyeliner duo but I wasn’t too sure about yellow and bright blue. Supposedly though this is a hot trend for summer so I did some research to see the best way to apply it. I found this picture of a model.

She pulls the yellow and blue thing off okay I think. I tried it on me and while it was ok I don’t think it will be my new everyday. It was interesting to try out a new look though. It is just a bit bold for me as I tend to stick to neutrals.

The last item in the box was this bracelet trio. This is not necessarily my normal style however I like these and will definitely wear them. I think they are a great summer look.

All in all I enjoyed my PopSugar box. And the items were all high end luxury items. I tried out some great new brands so all in all I’m pleased.

April Citrus Lane Subscription Box Review

Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for kids. Each month they send a variety of things specific to your child’s age. My daughter is 26 months. This is a picture of what we received this month.

I didn’t take pictures of the items this month individually so I will just tell you about each one below.

The Prince’s Bedtime Book – This was a fun book and it also came with a CD that narrates the story.

Flower Set from Green Toys – You put the flowers together to make a little garden. My daughter has had a lot of fun playing with this.

2 Tumblers from Green Eats – We can always use more cups and this is just perfect for her age.

Lemon Verbena Dish Soap – Again a very useful item. We always need dish soap.

Greeting Card Offer from Treat – I have not yet gone online to try this out. I’ve misplaced my code. Not the most ideal item since technically you have to go online to redeem it. But hopefully I can find the paper with my code on it and report more on this item.

Other than the greeting card offer I thought this was a great box.

Stork Stack Subscription Box Review + Coupon

Stork Stack is a monthly subscription box that curates boxes based on your child’s age from newborn to preschool. Stork Stack has now joined with Bluum. I guess I can see why because Stork Stack has had a lot of problems and bad press. And I wasn’t super impressed with this month’s box.

My daughter is two and there wasn’t anything in this box aimed at her age. The first thing that stands out to me is the rainbow stacker.

This is a very nicely made wooden stacker. It says ages 18 months+. This is a nice toy but I already have at least three other stacker toys.

The next item they sent was Stacking Cups. These said 6 months+. My daughter liked these more than the wooden stacker. She plays with them in the bath and has fun putting water in and dumping it out. Still, she had other bath cups already too.

The next item in the box was a Kind Bar. This tastes ok and has been appearing in lots of subscription boxes lately. My only objection to it is that it contains soy protein which I consider to be unhealthy due to the estrogen effects.

The next item is Weleda Baby Weather Protection Cream. Mine somehow got smushed in the box so it looked like this when I opened it.

Again this feels more like an item for a young infant rather than a toddler. It also would have had more usefulness this past winter than now going into spring. But it is an ok product and I will probably use it.

The last item in the box is a book called Rabbit Pie.

I always like to get books because my daughter loves it when we read to her.

All in all I wasn’t all that impressed with Stork Stack. But since they have now joined with Bluum the boxes should get better. Bluum is offering a 50% off discount with coupon code STORKSTACK.

Chocolate Tasting Club Review

The Chocolate Tasting Club is a british chocolate subscription club that sends you a monthly box of new chocolates each month to try. They were having a special on Rue La La and since I’ve never had british chocolate before I decided to give them a try. This is what the box looks like.

This is their Classic box. It is a mixture of dark and milk chocolates. They are not your run of the mill chocolates. They are not like anything I have had before. I had great fun trying out each of the different flavors. Some were better than others and there were a couple I didn’t like at all such as the Gin one. It’s hard to say which was my favorite because I liked so many. Possible the blueberry lemon one or the hazelnut one.

As part of the special I also received a lotion and a dark chocolate bar.

I haven’t tried the dark chocolate bar yet since I am generally not a dark chocolate person. I’m planning to give the bar to someone who will enjoy it more.

The Cocoa Body Butter was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting a strong chocolatey scent but it has more of a floral scent with just a faint chocolate aroma. I only tried it once so I can’t say whether or not it’s any better than ordinary lotions.

All in all these weren’t the absolute best chocolates I’ve ever had but I still really enjoyed trying them out. I would consider keeping the subscription but the monthly cost is too expensive for me.

Have you tried the Chocolate Tasting Club?

April Naturebox Review

Naturebox is a monthly subscription service that sends 5 bags of snacks each month. You can pick the snacks that you want or you can choose to be surprised. Here’s what I chose this month:

As you can see I couldn’t wait to try these so most of the bags were opened already before I took the picture. Naturebox is in the process of changing their packaging which is why there are two different colors.

Black and White Granola – This was really good. My husband, toddler and I all liked this and it’s very nearly gone already.

Pistachio Power Clusters – I order these every month. I really like them. Next month I may order two because these disappeared the first day.

Honey Crunch Crisps – I decided to try these based on another’s reccommendation but I did not like them. They have a very strong asian taste. It’s kind of like chinese food in a cracker.

Whole Wheat Raspberry Fig Bars – My husband, toddler and I all voted these as so-so. They are just your run of the mill fig bars.

Sweet Blueberry Almonds – This was a substitute bag because what I had chosen was not available. I have not yet opened them to try them. But I like almonds so this should be ok.

There’s always one bag I don’t like and this month it’s the Honey Crunch Crisps. I really enjoy this subscription and I like trying the new snacks every month. They have over 100 snacks to choose from so I am going to keep this subscription for awhile. It is $19.95 a month and you can get $10 off your first month by using coupon code PMDX-BMH at

April Orange Glad Subscription Box Review

Orange Glad is a subscription service that sends out a box of sweets each month. Of course, I had to try them out. They don’t ship until the following month no matter when you place your order. I placed my order March 1st so I did not receive my box for six weeks. Kind of a long wait. This is what I received.

There were 5 items total.

Cafe Valley Petite Chocolate Chip Muffins – There were two of these in the box so my husband and I both tried one. I was expecting to be wowed but these were not spectacular. Maybe if they were fresh out of the oven I would be wowed.

Greystone Bakery Brown Sugar Blondie – Again I was expecting a wow but it really just wasn’t. They were just way too sweet for my liking. My husband rated it as ok.

Greystone Bakery Walnut Fudge Brownie – This one I liked. It had a great chocolatey flavor. This one I ate all myself and did not share.

The Truffle Cake Co Sinful Red Velvet & Peanut Butter Paradise – There were two truffle cakes. These are somewhat similar to a cake pop only without the white chocolate coating. These were just ok for me.

Wicked Whoopie – This was the best thing in the box. This was YUM! I would eat more of these. It is a fairly big size and extremely high calorie but oh so tasty.

All in all I decided not to keep this subscription. It was fun to try some new things but I think for the most part bakery products are best fresh from the oven.
